Joyful Abandon

" Joyful Abandon "

by Suzán Jiván

Performed on YouTube
as, " An Heir Apparent "

An heir apparent
abundant in open
scrub oak
easily burrowing
prominently knobby
with dark spotting
and conspicuous
cranial crests
Filling in the picture
by setting aside differences
of messy textures
and confused senses
then trilling musically
breeding in a sensual pool
of a drenching monsoon
In the first two movements
principle and subsidiary
as the case with a penchant
for a frenzied tenth degree
when peppered with flecks
snout-to-vent
Opened and closed
as top-grossing replays
as mostly late compilations
of lighter-spirited days
Expressing joyful abandon
by basking on stumps
or lower reaches of tree trunks
after tunneling under
prickly brush with a husky skink...
