Otherwise Gaudy Good Times

" Otherwise Gaudy Good Times "

by Suzán Jiván

Performed on YouTube
as, " Becoming Funny
and Weird and Sloppy "

Becoming funny and weird and sloppy
when thrown for a loop
by mishandled duties
in narrow green rooms
of the totally natural
emptied out
as paradigms
of unhappiness
like fried ants
in disparate
fairy tales
as fractured
characters
mismatched
casts
With the rhetorical tic
of a vulgar kitsch
dismissed
with the fragility
of unscientific rigor
while leaping
over limits
unflinchingly
like a prestigious
mistress
and pre-eminent
critic
of pictorial brilliance
in multiple disciplines
of gambler, swindler
and alchemist
With spotty knowledge
prompted
by the topmost gossip
of an inexorable prosecutor
in two parts
as an unorthodox memoir
In spicy cuisine, sweetie.
" Gosh Almighty! "
freely embracing
then running away
after a break up
with a jack-of-all-trades
then leaving the stage
along a fertile plain
of strap-shaped stream beds
within a broader range
of late middle age
Assuming a deep groove
of allocution
dramatically patterned
in red and black
reduced to powder
when mixed
with pungent flowers
of a musk mallow
And hiding out
in otherwise
gaudy good times
as indecipherable
uninspired writings
like a riot
of inedible wild
loosestrife
Then all is right
in story lines
like fireweed
in showy spikes
replete with sweet
buckeye...
